Hi, I’m Karen Batten.

Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I began playing the piano at the age of four under the guidance of my mother, and by age eight I was taking formal lessons with Clara Carver. As a teenager, I studied chords and accompaniment through the Henry Slaughter Gospel Piano Course with Terry Weeks, which helped shape my passion for playing by ear and accompanying others.

By the age of fifteen, I was already playing for weddings, church services, graduations, and other special events. Over the years, I've had the privilege of serving as a church pianist and sharing music throughout my community. Today, I continue to serve as pianist at First Assembly of God in Douglas, Georgia.

In 2017, I founded my piano studio with a simple goal—to help students discover the joy, confidence, and lifelong benefits of making music. What began with just a handful of students quickly grew into a thriving studio serving children, teens, and adults.

At The Music Nest, I strive to create a warm, encouraging environment where every student feels valued and inspired. Whether your child is just beginning their musical journey or you're an adult ready to learn piano for the first time, I desire to help every student grow in both musical ability and confidence.

I believe music is a gift that enriches lives, strengthens families, and creates memories that last a lifetime. It would be my privilege to be a part of your family's musical journey.
